In Tashkent, officers of the State Security Service (SGB) have shut down a major drug trafficking channel, seizing over 20 kilograms of illegal substances from a house and detaining several individuals linked to a virtual drug distribution network.
In the first incident, during a search of a rented property belonging to a 58-year-old native of Surkhandarya region, authorities confiscated 13.05 kilograms of opium and 7.137 kilograms of hashish. The SGB investigative department has opened a criminal case against the man on charges of smuggling and illegal possession of narcotics.
Additionally, in a joint operation by the Tashkent city SGB and internal affairs bodies, two citizens aged 34 and 25 were arrested for organizing a virtual drug distribution channel. Hashish and hashish oil were seized from them.
It is noted that one of the detainees had a prior criminal record, while the other had been arrested in April of this year for a similar offense and was under investigation as a suspect.
Law enforcement agencies are continuing their work to identify possible accomplices, the origin of the drugs, and distribution channels.
Previously, a citizen of Kazakhstan was found with packages of hashish oil weighing a total of 11 kilograms. The detainee was transporting the drugs from Thailand and was supposed to deliver them via Uzbekistan to Kazakhstan.
