Uzbekistan's government plans to include at least five domestic universities among the world's top 500 by 2030, according to Podrobno.uz.

Another ten universities are expected to enter subject-specific international rankings. To achieve this, 100 educational programs must receive international accreditation, and international curricula will be introduced in at least 150 technical colleges.

Additionally, at least 30% of university graduates and faculty are to obtain international certificates in foreign languages, professions, and specialties. Some 2,500 technical college teachers and 20,000 university teachers will be sent abroad for professional development.

Authorities had previously announced plans to improve the standing of Uzbek universities in global rankings, including increasing the number of local universities in the world's top 1,000 to ten. The new target is even more ambitious.

It was also reported that Uzbekistan will establish a Higher School of Integrated Educational Programs based on British universities.
