Two individuals have been detained in the Beruniy district of the Republic of Karakalpakstan on suspicion of extorting money from entrepreneurs by threatening to file complaints through the Soliq mobile application. A criminal case has been opened under Article 165 (Extortion) of the Criminal Code.

According to the Prosecutor General's Office, the suspects demanded money from the owner of a family business, claiming they would otherwise file a complaint via the Soliq app for failing to issue a cash receipt at his store. The investigation reports that they were apprehended during an operational operation while receiving 3 million soums.

It is noted that one of the suspects may be involved in similar incidents involving three other entrepreneurs in the district. Investigators allege he demanded money from them in exchange for not filing complaints through the Soliq app regarding missing cash receipts.

Investigative actions are currently underway.
