Turkish low-cost carrier SunExpress will begin regular flights on the Izmir-Tashkent-Izmir route starting August 1, according to a statement from Uzbekistan Airports.
This marks the first time a direct regular air connection has been established between Tashkent and Izmir. The new route is expected to further expand tourism, business, and cultural ties between the two countries.
Flights will operate four times a week using Boeing 737-800 aircraft with a capacity of 189 passengers. According to the carrier's website, flights are scheduled on Mondays and Thursdays. The flight duration is 4 hours and 40 minutes. One-way ticket prices start from 7,500 Turkish lira (approximately 1.93 million Uzbek soms).
SunExpress is entering the Uzbek aviation market for the first time, becoming the third Turkish airline to operate regular flights to the country. The carrier is also considering launching regular flights to airports in the Fergana Valley from early 2027.
SunExpress is one of Turkey's leading low-cost airlines, founded in 1989 as a joint venture between Turkish Airlines and Lufthansa. The airline is based in Antalya and Izmir and operates regular flights to over 250 destinations in 37 countries across Europe, the Middle East, North Africa, and Central Asia.
It is worth noting that Armenia's Shirak Avia airline has launched regular flights on the Yerevan-Tashkent route. The first flight arrived in Tashkent on June 2, marking the first direct flight in decades. The flights are operated once a week on Boeing 737 aircraft.
