Officers from the operational-search service of the Andijan Regional Internal Affairs Department, in coordination with the regional prosecutor's office, prevented a contract killing.

A 52-year-old resident of the Asaka district allegedly plotted to murder her ex-husband, with whom she continued to live. The motive was a property dispute that led to hostile relations. The woman sought a hitman willing to carry out the murder for $3,000.

During the operation, a law enforcement officer posed as a contract killer. On July 10, the woman met with him, discussed the plan, and paid an advance of 5 million soums. She promised to pay the remaining sum after receiving confirmation of her ex-husband's death.

On the night of July 11, law enforcement staged the murder. The man was taken to a field in the Asaka district, where makeup was used to simulate his death. The woman was then invited to the scene.

Believing the man was dead, she confirmed her willingness to pay the remainder of the fee and was immediately arrested.

A criminal case has been opened under Article 97, Part 2, through Article 25 of the Criminal Code of Uzbekistan (Attempted premeditated murder). An investigation is ongoing.
