Officers from the State Security Service (SSS) and the Main Internal Affairs Directorate of Tashkent have dismantled several illegal drug trafficking channels. During special operations, they seized heroin, hashish, mephedrone, and opium totaling approximately 3.2 kilograms.
The first arrest occurred in the Bektemir district. Law enforcement stopped a Gentra car carrying two 28-year-old residents of the Yashnabad district. A search of the vehicle revealed several packages containing a powdery substance.
The operation continued as authorities discovered a hiding place allegedly used by the suspects and searched their rented apartment. There, they found additional narcotics, electronic scales, and packaging materials.
Forensic analysis confirmed the seized substances were 1.2 kilograms of heroin and 100 grams of mephedrone. The SSS noted that both suspects had prior convictions for drug-related crimes.
Another episode involved a 44-year-old resident of the Shaykhantakhur district, who also had a criminal record. During a search, officers found 47 grams of hashish and 34 grams of opium in his possession.
Later, law enforcement detained two more alleged drug suppliers—residents of the Almazar district aged 39 and 46. Searches of their vehicles and homes yielded approximately 1.8 kilograms of hashish and 12 grams of opium.
Criminal cases have been opened for both incidents. The investigation is ongoing to determine all circumstances and possible participants in the illegal scheme.
Earlier, Tashkent authorities had seized over 2 kilograms of mephedrone, equivalent to 60,000 single doses, and 760 units of the drug Zardex.
