A unique tourism project is being developed in Uzbekistan's Navoi region, offering visitors not just to see the national flavor but to become part of it. Tourists will be able to live in traditional yurts, try their hand at crafts, cook national dishes, and experience the daily life of local residents.

The project aims to develop rural and ethnographic tourism. The tourist village will feature guest houses in national style, craft workshops, recreation areas, ethnographic exhibitions, and family-friendly spaces. Guests can enjoy horse and camel rides, folk games, folklore shows, and master classes from local artisans.

This format is already successfully operating in the tourist village of Yangikazgan in Kanimekh district. Thanks to tourism development, about 60 families there now have a steady income. Twenty guest houses and 10 craft workshops are open for travelers.

Visitors can not only taste traditional dishes but also bake flatbread in a tandyr, milk a cow or camel, and participate in making carpets and items from goat and camel wool. This format allows tourists to get closer to local life while providing additional income for villagers.

Yangikazgan is expected to receive about 25,000 foreign tourists this year. High demand is also evident in yurt camps: nine camps with nearly 900 beds operate in the desert areas of Kanimekh and Nurata districts, and all are fully booked by foreign tourists for the 2026 season.

Authorities hope that the development of tourist villages and yurt camps will make Navoi region one of the most attractive destinations for travelers. Since the beginning of 2026, Uzbekistan has returned 96.9 billion soums in VAT to enterprises in tourism, catering, and other sectors.
