Writer and poet Omon Mukhtorov was born on July 16, 1941 in Bukhara. After finishing school in 1958, he studied journalism at Tashkent State University (now National University).

He worked at Radio Uzbekistan and the Film Committee, as well as at the Adabiyot publishing house and the Sharq Yulduzi magazine. Between 1968 and 1979, his books "Nigoh", "Qushlar va tushlar", "Shaharlik kelinchak", "Yog'du" and "Yillar shamoli" were published.

In 1985–1989, he wrote poetry collections "Marvarid" and "Shiddat", the novel "Egilgan bosh", and works "Vazifa" and "O'lmagan jon". He is also the author of the trilogy "To'rt tomon qibla", "Ko'zgu oldidagi odam", "Tepalikdagi xaroba", as well as novels "Ayollar mamlakati va saltanati", "Aflotun" and "Maydon".

Holder of the "Do'stlik" Order, Omon Mukhtorov died on May 10, 2013. To mark the occasion, Gazeta has prepared a test based on his works.
