The Tourism Committee has drafted a presidential decree proposing changes to the working hours of the tourism sector during the summer period.

Specifically, the document considers the introduction of a 'siesta' system, aimed at making visits to attractions more comfortable for tourists during the hot months.

The pilot project is planned to run from June 1 to August 31 in Tashkent, Samarkand, Bukhara, and Khiva. The new rules may apply to hotels, hostels, guest houses, museums, historical sites, restaurants, cafes, tour operators, and other tourist facilities.

According to the proposal, the work of tourism infrastructure will be divided into three periods: 07:00 to 13:00 — morning shift; 13:00 to 17:00 — 'siesta' time, when a break is suggested during the hottest hours; 17:00 to 23:00 — evening shift.

During the daytime break, tourist facilities must maintain comfortable conditions for visitors: ensure air conditioning works, retain necessary staff, and continue serving guests.

The draft also notes that the transition to the new schedule should not lead to salary reductions or worsening of working conditions.

Additionally, evening tourism development is proposed: launching 'Night Museum' and 'Evening Excursion' programs, preparing summer menus in cafes and restaurants, and holding more cultural, gastronomic, and entertainment events in the evening.

Furthermore, plans include adapting public transport, lighting, and landscaping of tourist zones to the new schedule.

By November 1, 2026, the Tourism Committee plans to evaluate the pilot project results and submit proposals for its further application.
