Uzbekistan national team captain Eldor Shomurodov's goal has been shortlisted by FIFA for the best goal of the 2026 World Cup. His competitors include Lionel Messi, Erling Haaland, Kylian Mbappé, and Jude Bellingham.

A total of 308 goals were scored during the tournament, from which FIFA selected 12 of the most outstanding. Voting runs until July 27, after which the winner will be announced.

Shomurodov scored in Uzbekistan's final group stage match against DR Congo. The striker received the ball from a tight angle and skillfully lobbed the advancing goalkeeper to open the scoring. The match ended in a 1-3 defeat for Uzbekistan.

This goal had already been voted the best of the group stage at the 2026 World Cup, with Shomurodov receiving 36% of the votes, ahead of Messi and Vinícius Júnior.
