A new transport interchange worth 240 billion soums (approximately $24 million) has been built on the border between Bektemir district of Tashkent city and Urta Chirchik district of Tashkent region. President Shavkat Mirziyoyev inspected the facility on July 22 during his visit to the region, according to the presidential press service.

The overpass was constructed at the intersection of the A373 highway and the Tashkent Ring Road. The project covers an area of 14.1 hectares and includes a 66-meter-long, 46-meter-wide bridge, a 450-meter underground road, two U-turn lanes, four underground pedestrian crossings, and a 950-meter roundabout.

Additionally, 9.5 kilometers of pedestrian and bicycle paths, eight public transport stops, 240 streetlights, and 6 kilometers of road barriers were built. The new facility is expected to increase the daily traffic capacity of the route several times, reaching 130,000 vehicles.

This will improve transport links between the capital and Tashkent region, reduce congestion, and create comfortable travel conditions for residents. The president was also briefed on technical solutions, traffic management capabilities, and plans to launch a Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) system on the Tashkent-Nurafshon route.
