A serious traffic accident involving a truck and a passenger car occurred in the Khovos district of the Sirdaryo region. According to the regional traffic safety department, the incident happened on August 9 at approximately 10:30 AM on the 125th kilometer of the international highway M-34 Tashkent — Dushanbe, at a U-turn section.

Preliminary reports indicate that a Shacman truck was making a U-turn when a Captiva, traveling in the same direction along the left lane, collided with it. Videos circulating online show both vehicles engulfed in flames.

As a result, the driver of the Captiva and two passengers died at the scene from their injuries. The condition of the truck driver has not been disclosed.

The Investigative Department under the Sirdaryo Regional Internal Affairs Directorate has initiated a criminal case under Article 266, Part 3, Clause “a” of the Criminal Code (violation of traffic safety rules or vehicle operation resulting in death). Investigative actions are underway.
