A criminal case has been opened against the head of one of the district branches of the State Cadastre Chamber in Fergana region, according to the State Security Service (SSS).

A pre-investigation check revealed that the official had received $600 in early July to cancel an act drawn up by the district department of the Cadastre Agency regarding a citizen's illegally constructed retail store, and to ensure that no legal action would be taken.

Later, without fulfilling his promise, he returned $500 to the citizen. The illegal activity was exposed during operational-search measures conducted by SSS and the Department for Combating Economic Crimes.

Currently, a criminal case has been initiated, and initial investigative actions are underway. Authorities emphasize that everyone is equal before the law and that illegal actions by officials are under strict control.
