Uzbekistan is continuing its nationwide 'Relevant 40 Days' campaign, dedicated to the 35th anniversary of the country's state independence. The events run from July 28 to September 6.

The campaign aims to improve the improvement of territories, enhance the sanitary condition of settlements, ensure timely waste removal, and raise the ecological culture of the population.

To coordinate the work, special headquarters have been established in the Agency for Waste Management and Circular Economy Development, its territorial departments, and system organizations. Responsible employees are assigned to regions, with round-the-clock duty and daily monitoring organized. Currently, 3,604 out of 8,150 mahallas in the republic are covered by the campaign.

On average, 3,000–4,000 units of special equipment and 8,000–10,000 workers are involved daily in sanitary cleaning. The volume of waste removal ranges from 16,000 to 20,000 tons of solid household waste and 1,500 to 2,000 tons of construction waste per day.

In particular, on August 5, 2,732 units of equipment and 8,996 specialists were involved, removing 18,500 tons of waste in a day. Of the 64 identified equipment malfunctions, 52 were promptly fixed, 12 units were replaced, and 155 more vehicles are in reserve. During the first 10 days of the campaign, 125,526 tons of waste were placed at 137 landfills, requiring 39,130 trips by special vehicles.

As part of monitoring compliance with environmental legislation, 97 violations were identified, resulting in administrative fines totaling 165.4 million soums. In anticipation of the holiday, cleaning of markets, parks, recreational areas, as well as school and kindergarten territories has been intensified. Wood residues after sanitary pruning are directed to the production of organic fertilizers. Additionally, specialists reviewed 327 citizen appeals regarding cleanliness, of which 275 have already been resolved on the spot.
