On August 8, at the Uzexpocentre building in Tashkent, the Chairman of the Supreme Court, head of the Supreme Judicial Council, chairmen of Tashkent city and regional courts, and their deputies held a mass mobile reception for residents. The reception began at 10:00 AM and lasted until 10:00 PM. A Gazeta correspondent, Otabek Turdiyev, observed the process from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM.
According to the Supreme Court press service, during the reception, appeals from 1,279 people on 854 cases were heard. 403 complaints (applications) were accepted for consideration in accordance with the law, legal explanations were provided on 410 appeals, and 41 appeals were resolved positively on the spot.
Citizens who came to the reception presented their identification documents at the registration corner. Court staff registered them through a unified open communication website. Then, citizens were directed to judges handling criminal, administrative, civil, and economic cases based on the nature of their issues.
The majority of applicants came to the reception of Supreme Court Chairman Robakhon Makhmudova. There was some crowding and disorder at the door. Robakhon Makhmudova heard 218 applicants, from whom 161 applications were received. 120 applications were accepted for review.
Deputy Chairman of the Supreme Court Malika Kalandarova noted that citizens hope for justice and that they try to find solutions to issues unresolved in lower instances. She also negatively assessed citizens' untimely appeals to court and their complaints about being 'bothered for 17-19 years', emphasizing the need to improve legal culture among the population.
Abdurakhman Tashanov, head of the 'Ezgulik' society for human rights, said that 'people do not come to such mobile receptions if they are not dissatisfied'. He compared the reception to the Ministry of Internal Affairs' mobile reception, noting organizational shortcomings but praising the judges' activity. 'If verdicts were fair, not so many people would come to mobile receptions', he added.
Supreme Court Chairman Robakhon Makhmudova told journalists that the next mobile reception would be organized for residents of Jizzakh and Syrdarya regions.
The correspondent spoke with some applicants. Gulomjon Ilkhomov described the problem of 48 apartments that were pledged to Anorbank. They were offered to cancel the pledge, but the requirement to pay a 2% fee is burdensome for them.
Entrepreneur Tulkin Zakirov said that four properties seized by the National Security Service in 2012 have still not been returned. He received a positive conclusion on appointing an audit after the reception with the Supreme Court Chairman.
Abdurakhman Tashanov spoke about the reception regarding blogger Sirojiddin Odilov's case, noting that the defense proved his innocence and expressing hope for his release.
Feruza Toshpolatova claimed that her son was framed in a drug-related crime and sentenced to 12.5 years in prison. She demands an objective review of the case.
Isomiddin Eshonkulov reported a long-standing land dispute, noting that after his father's death, a complaint was filed against him. He asks for a fair consideration of the case.
