Ukraine and Russia traded more attacks overnight, with the Kharkiv regional governor reporting 10 civilian deaths in a Russian missile strike on the village of Pechenihy, near the border. The attack also wounded 18 people, damaged 10 private houses, a cafe, a post office, a shop, and at least seven cars, according to Governor Oleh Syniehubov. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said the strike hit a busy intersection.

Meanwhile, Moscow's Mayor Sergei Sobyanin said some 620 drones were launched toward the capital region overnight, with most intercepted on approach and 180 shot down over the Moscow area. Russian state news agency TASS called it the heaviest such attack in two years. Russia's Defense Ministry claimed to have repelled 791 Ukrainian drones across Russian territory and annexed Crimea, though these figures cannot be independently verified.

Moscow's regional governor Andrei Vorobyov reported three injuries in three districts, including a young girl with a shrapnel wound. Several residential buildings were damaged, one completely burned down in the village of Kuznetsy. A drone also struck a Wildberries warehouse near Kolomna, causing minor damage.

Russia's Embassy in London responded critically to reports in The Times that UK-supplied drones were used in attacks on Russian territory. The embassy asserted that such reports "confirm that London is deliberately opting for an escalation of the Ukraine crisis, while hypocritically professing a desire for peace." It accused the UK of acting as an accomplice to "bloody crimes and terrorist attacks" and warned of consequences.

German Environment Minister Carsten Schneider traveled to Kyiv to discuss climate-friendly infrastructure renewal and reconstruction. He also planned to be briefed on the situation at Ukraine's nuclear power plants, including the Chernobyl reactor and the occupied Zaporizhzhia plant, which remains under Russian control and close to front lines.

The UN has warned that civilian deaths in the conflict have risen to levels not seen since May 2022, following intensified Russian strikes on towns and cities in July. The overnight attacks mark one of the largest Ukrainian drone offensives on Russian soil since the war began.
