In the Bukhara region of Uzbekistan, authorities have uncovered illegal sales of pharmaceutical products during recent inspections. Specialists from the Department for Licensing Pharmaceutical Activities and Pharmaceutical Inspection removed 101 types of medicines from illegal circulation in seven pharmacies.

The inspections were conducted based on advertisements posted in the mobile application “Arzon apteka bot”. This highlights the growing use of digital platforms by regulatory bodies to identify violations in the pharmaceutical sector.

During the operations, it was also revealed that one of the entities listed in the app was not actually a pharmacy. The address provided for “Onlayn 5” turned out to be the Bukhara regional office of the BTS express delivery service. This points to potential fraudulent schemes in online medicine sales.

Earlier, in Namangan, a clandestine warehouse was discovered in a residential building, containing 13,200 units of medicines across 56 types, intended for sale. The value of the batch was estimated at 577.4 million soums, and a criminal case was opened against its 30-year-old owner.

Experts urge the public to purchase medicines only from licensed pharmacies and to be cautious when using mobile apps for such transactions. Similar inspections are expected to continue across the country.
