️ President Shavkat Mirziyoyev reviewed a presentation on investment projects aimed at improving the waste management system, recycling, and electricity generation. The presentation outlined ambitious plans to build waste-to-energy plants across various regions of the country.

️ In 2026–2027, Uzbekistan plans to implement 6 investment projects for electricity generation from waste incineration, with a total value of $933 million, in cooperation with Chinese companies. As of September 1, $286.8 million has already been disbursed under these initiatives, and the volume of domestic goods and services purchased has reached $76.6 million. 2,000 local workers have been employed in construction.

️ The projects cover Kashkadarya, Samarkand, Tashkent, Andijan, Fergana, and Namangan regions. Plants in Kashkadarya and Samarkand regions are scheduled to be commissioned in 2026, while capacities in other regions are expected in 2027. Once fully operational, they will process 3.6 million tons of municipal solid waste annually and generate 1.6 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity.

️ In addition, the presentation considered 5 more prospective projects from companies in Singapore, South Korea, and China worth $625 million. These are planned for implementation in Karakalpakstan, Jizzakh, Surkhandarya, Bukhara, and Khorezm regions. They will enable the annual processing of 1.9 million tons of waste, generation of 635 million kilowatt-hours of electricity, creation of 500 new jobs, savings of 158 million cubic meters of natural gas, and reduction of greenhouse gas emissions by 316,000 tons.

️ The head of state instructed to accelerate the implementation of projects, create favorable conditions for investors, increase the level of localization, and, jointly with Green University, Samarkand and Karshi State Universities, form a personnel reserve of 1,000 specialists.
