Tashkent, Uzbekistan – Podrobno.uz. In the first half of 2026, the number of convicted minors in Uzbekistan increased by 9.1% compared to the same period in 2025, according to the press service of the Supreme Court.

Over the six months, courts convicted 1,370 minors, which is 115 more than a year earlier. These figures indicate a serious concern about the level of juvenile delinquency in the country.

Of the total number of convicted teenagers, 232 were sentenced to imprisonment, accounting for 16.9% of the total. Fines were imposed on 239 individuals (17.4%), 815 people (59.5%) received restriction of liberty as a punishment, and 25 were assigned corrective labor. At the same time, 520 minors were released on parole, 101 had their sentences replaced with milder ones, and criminal cases against 646 individuals were terminated due to reconciliation of the parties.

In total, in the first half of the year, 49,705 people were convicted in 40,696 criminal cases in Uzbekistan. A third of all crimes committed were grave and especially grave offenses. Following the review of cases, 11,703 people were sentenced to actual imprisonment.

These statistics highlight the need for additional measures to prevent offenses among young people. Experts note that the rise in juvenile crime may be linked to socio-economic factors, family problems, and shortcomings in the education system.
