A draft decision by the Tashkent City Council has been submitted for public discussion, proposing changes to fares on buses and the metro in the capital. According to the draft, a single ride with electronic payment will cost 2,500 soums instead of the current 1,700 soums — a 47% increase. Cash payment will remain at 3,000 soums. A fee of 4,000 soums is proposed for luggage transport.

The draft also introduces a new line of transport card tariff plans, with prices depending on the validity period and the number of trips included. For bus-only travel: 1 day (6 trips) — 11,500 soums, 23% discount; 5 days (22 trips) — 42,500 soums, 23% discount; 7 days (28 trips) — 54,000 soums, 23% discount; 10 days (44 trips) — 84,500 soums, 23% discount; 15 days (66 trips) — 127,000 soums, 23% discount; 20 days (88 trips) — 169,500 soums, 23% discount; 30 days (130 trips) — 250,000 soums, 23% discount; 1 month (130 trips) — 250,000 soums, 23% discount (currently 160,000); 3 months (390 trips) — 682,500 soums, 30% discount; 6 months (780 trips) — 1.17 million soums, 40% discount; 1 year (1,560 trips) — 1.95 million soums, 50% discount.

For bus and metro travel: 1 day (7 trips) — 13,500 soums, 23% discount; 5 days (30 trips) — 57,500 soums, 23% discount; 7 days (38 trips) — 73,000 soums, 23% discount; 10 days (60 trips) — 115,500 soums, 23% discount; 15 days (90 trips) — 173,000 soums, 23% discount; 20 days (120 trips) — 231,000 soums, 23% discount; 30 days (180 trips) — 345,000 soums, 23% discount; 1 month (180 trips) — 345,000 soums, 23% discount (currently 221,000); 3 months (540 trips) — 945,000 soums, 30% discount; 6 months (1,080 trips) — 1.62 million soums, 40% discount; 1 year (2,160 trips) — 2.7 million soums, 50% discount.

In addition, trip packages with a 23% discount from the full cost are proposed. A package of 10 trips will cost 19,000 soums, 20 trips — 38,500 soums, 30 trips — 57,500 soums. The system of discounted transfers within one hour will be preserved. For bus-only travel, the first ride will cost 2,500 soums, the second — 1,500 soums, and the third and subsequent rides within the hour period will be free. When using bus and metro, the payment depends on the sequence of trips. The first trip will cost 2,500 soums, subsequent transfers — 1,500 soums or free. For example, if a passenger first uses the metro and then transfers to buses, the metro ride will cost 2,500 soums, the first two bus rides — 1,500 soums each, and the third and subsequent — free. The 60-minute countdown starts from the moment of payment for the first trip. During this period, the metro can be used at a discounted rate only once. Upon re-entering the metro, the hour period will restart.

The discussion of the project will last until September 19. These changes could significantly increase the financial burden on the population, as fares are set to rise by nearly 50%.
