A drug dealer was detained in a Tashkent hotel while attempting to sell a large batch of hashish, with the deal valued at $26,000. The operation was conducted jointly by the State Security Service (SSS), Customs, and the Ministry of Internal Affairs, according to the SSS press service.

The suspect, a 38-year-old resident of Denau previously convicted on drug charges, brought 1 kilogram 185 grams of hashish to the capital and sold it to an undercover buyer. He was caught receiving $21,000. The remaining sum is believed to have been paid earlier.

Near the hotel, his accomplice was also detained — a 39-year-old driver of a Cobalt car, previously convicted of theft. A criminal case has been opened, and investigative actions are ongoing.

Earlier, in the Yukori-Chirchik district of Tashkent region, law enforcement seized 6.1 kilograms of synthetic drugs, preventing the distribution of over 20,000 single doses.

These incidents indicate that while Uzbekistan continues to crack down on drug trafficking, the persistence of such crimes raises concerns. Improving the effectiveness of law enforcement efforts remains critical.
