The Tashkent Metro transported 288,187 passengers in just five hours on September 14, according to the press service of the metro. The surge in ridership is directly linked to the start of the new academic year at all higher education institutions across Uzbekistan.

The highest passenger volumes in the morning were recorded at the stations "Chinor", "Sergeli", "Choshtepa", "Almazar", "Chilanzar", "Buyuk Ipak Yuli", "Dustlik", and "Beruni". These stations typically serve areas with a high concentration of students and commuters.

To accommodate the increased passenger flow, the metro reduced train intervals during peak hours. On the Chilanzar line, intervals are now 1.5–2 minutes; on the Uzbekistan line, 3 minutes; on the Yunusabad line, 4 minutes; and on the above-ground ring line, 7–8 minutes.

Metro officials stated that they continue to monitor passenger traffic and will adjust train schedules as necessary to ensure passenger convenience and safety.

Earlier reports noted that with the start of the new academic year, the Tashkent Metro had already shortened peak-hour intervals. Staff presence was also reinforced at all 50 stations, with particular attention paid to the busiest ones.
