A ceremony was held in India to hand over the symbolic flame of the World Chess Olympiad. The torch was received by Uzbek grandmaster Javokhir Sindarov, and it is now on its way to Uzbekistan — the host country for the 46th Olympiad in Samarkand.

At the solemn event, the torch was passed to Sindarov by FIDE Acting President Viswanathan Anand and President of the All India Chess Federation Nitin Narang. This symbolic gesture marks the beginning of the countdown to the main chess event of the year and is intended to draw global attention to the upcoming tournament.

The symbolic flame will soon arrive in Samarkand, where the 46th World Chess Olympiad will take place. The tournament will bring together the strongest chess players from around the world and will become one of the key events of the year. For Uzbekistan, this is not only a sporting event but also an image-building opportunity that could strengthen the country's position on the international stage.

Recall that during the FIDE General Assembly in Samarkand, representatives of nearly 200 national federations will elect a new president of the organization. Three candidates are vying for the post. The election promises to be competitive and could influence the future development of chess worldwide, while Uzbekistan will need to demonstrate a high level of organization for both the tournament and related events.
