Karakalpakstan is set to implement six projects in artificial intelligence and data centers with a total value of $8 billion. A special zone will be created in the region for this purpose. The announcement was made during a meeting on the socio-economic development of Karakalpakstan chaired by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev.
At the meeting, it was noted that the region possesses significant land resources, minerals, large pastures, as well as solar and wind energy potential. Based on these opportunities, a new industrial and investment map will be developed – from raw material extraction to finished product manufacturing.
The "Kungrad – Karauzyak – Takhiyatash" direction is planned to be transformed into a "green industrial corridor" and an "intellectual economy triangle" of Karakalpakstan. In the special zone for AI and data center projects, six initiatives worth $8 billion will be implemented. By October 1, a five-year program must be developed, and investors must be provided with stable electricity supply of 1 gigawatt.
Within three years, 1,500 high-paying jobs are planned to be created in Nukus, Kungrad, Karauzyak, and Takhiyatash. Additionally, the task is to increase annual exports of cloud technologies and AI solutions to $600 million.
Earlier, it was reported that Shavkat Mirziyoyev launched new production facilities and initiated large-scale projects in Karakalpakstan. In the region, 11 projects worth $592 million were launched, and construction of 47 more projects worth $7 billion began.
