According to a presidential decree dated September 21, government bodies and organizations in Uzbekistan are recommended to incorporate liability for sexual and physical violence, sexual harassment, and psychological pressure in the workplace into their internal labor regulations. This move aims to foster a safe and healthy environment in labor relations.

Under the decree, cases of sexual or physical violence, as well as sexual harassment, are recommended to be regarded as a one-time gross violation of labor duties. This grants employers the right to early terminate an employment contract with an employee in such cases.

Furthermore, cases of harassment, psychological pressure, and discrimination, whether committed by or against an employee, are proposed to be considered a violation of labor discipline. These norms are intended to ensure fair and respectful relations in the workplace.

If an employee is persecuted for filing a complaint about harassment or violence, this will also be qualified as a violation of labor discipline. This encourages employees to freely seek protection of their rights.

Recall that under Article 161 of the Labor Code of the Republic of Uzbekistan, a one-time gross violation of labor duties by an employee is one of the grounds for early termination of an employment contract by the employer. The new measures are aimed at further improving labor legislation and protecting employees' rights.
