President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev has reviewed a fish farming project at the "Chinobod real biznes" enterprise in the Balykchi district of the Andijan region. According to the presidential press service, Uzbekistan is paying special attention to the development of the fisheries sector and the widespread introduction of modern technologies. Rational use of land and water resources and obtaining high yields on small areas through intensive methods are of key importance in this process.
This modern system has been implemented at the "Chinobod real biznes" enterprise. The project was carried out in accordance with the presidential decree of July 2 of this year aimed at developing fish farming. The enterprise will help meet the demand of farms in the Fergana Valley for trout fry. The total cost of the project is 30 billion soums, and 30 jobs have been created. The modern complex, located on an area of 2 hectares, annually produces 200 tons of fish meat and breeds 2.5 million fry. The annual production volume is 50 billion soums. Thanks to the use of intensive technologies, it is possible to obtain as much output on just 2 hectares as would be produced by traditional methods on 100 hectares.
The complex also includes a laboratory capable of naturally purifying up to 2 million liters of water. Chlorella, an algae that improves water quality, is cultivated here. This environmentally friendly system allows for an additional 15-20% increase in fish farming efficiency. The enterprise's electricity needs are fully covered by solar panels. Water from the fish ponds is not wasted either – water rich in phosphorus, ammonia and calcium is used to irrigate agricultural crops. Thus, a closed-loop system of resource reuse has been created at the complex.
The enterprise annually exports 2 million trout fry to Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Afghanistan. The annual export volume is $2 million, and budget revenues amount to 5 billion soums. The project also helps provide employment: 20 households in the "Sarvul" mahalla of the Balykchi district are engaged in trout farming in cooperation with the enterprise and receive additional income.
The complex also integrates education and production. In cooperation with the Andijan Institute of Agriculture and Agro-Technologies, a "Practice Center for Fish Farming and Poultry" has been established, where students reinforce theoretical knowledge directly in the production process. The head of state noted that such highly efficient projects are important for ensuring employment and strengthening food security. Responsible officials were instructed to widely disseminate this experience and increase the number of new projects envisaging a manifold increase in production volumes through the use of intensive methods on small areas.
