Under a new decree signed by the President of Uzbekistan, the country's educational administration has undergone a major restructuring. The Ministry of Preschool and School Education and the Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Innovations have been officially merged to establish a single, unified Ministry of Education and Science, according to an announcement released by the presidential press service.
The primary objective behind this institutional consolidation is the creation of a seamless, modern ecosystem spanning early education, academic schooling, and advanced scientific research. Officials emphasized that this centralized structure is designed to substantially elevate educational standards, enhance administrative efficiency, and advance Uzbekistan's long-term human capital development in line with global benchmarks.
By integrating oversight across all educational stages—from kindergarten through higher academic degrees and scientific endeavors—the government aims to eliminate inter-agency fragmentation and streamline policy execution. The decree also places a strong emphasis on establishing an effective governance model that ensures greater transparency and public accountability across the entire education sector.
