In accordance with an official decree issued by the Ministry of Culture, Honored Artist of Uzbekistan Fatih Jalolov has been appointed as the new director of the Mukimi Uzbekistan State Academic Musical Theatre. The newly appointed head was officially introduced to the theatre's creative troupe on October 7.
Reports indicate that during the introduction ceremony, First Deputy Minister of Culture Nodirbek Sayfullayev expressed confidence that Jalolov's extensive background would help elevate the theatre's activities to a higher standard. Prior to this position, Jalolov served as the director of the International Festivals Directorate under the Ministry of Culture.
The newly appointed director graduated from the acting department of the A. Ostrovsky Tashkent Theatre and Art Institute in 1984. Throughout his career, he has combined acting with directing, appearing in notable films such as "Oq bino oqshomlari," "Bomba," "Marg‘iyona," "Sardor," "Dilxiroj," and the popular sequel "Osmondagi bolalar 2" ("Boys in the Sky 2").
In addition to his acting credentials, Jalolov has directed several cinematic projects, including "Katta oyi," "Xotira rashki," and "Muqimiy." His administrative experience also includes serving as the acting director of the "Uzbekfilm" studio back in 2017.
Leadership changes at the Mukimi Theatre have been relatively frequent in recent years. In February 2023, Azim Mullakhanov was appointed to head the institution, while Aleksandr Bekjonov had managed the theatre starting in 2021, following the passing of People's Artist of Uzbekistan Mirza Azizov at the age of 58.
Amid these structural updates, observers point out ongoing infrastructural challenges facing the institution. Previously, Saida Mirziyoyeva, Head of the Presidential Administration, inspected the theatre's operations and explicitly noted that the Mukimi State Academic Musical Theatre building has been in severe need of major renovations for quite some time.
