Fergana has hosted the intergovernmental commission meeting on economic cooperation between Uzbekistan and Russia, alongside a session of the Council of Regions. The high-level talks focused on expanding bilateral trade, industrial partnership, and investment projects.
The Uzbek delegation was led by Deputy Prime Minister Jamshid Khodjayev, while the Russian side was headed by First Deputy Prime Minister Denis Manturov. Officials noted a 10 percent increase in mutual trade volume over the first eight months of the year, as both nations work toward the ambitious presidential target of 30 billion dollars in trade turnover.
During the discussions, participants announced plans to launch 17 joint projects worth a total of 350 million dollars in 2026, spanning the chemical industry, agricultural processing, and metalworking. Energy cooperation, notably the construction of a nuclear power plant in the Jizzakh region, was also reviewed.
The meetings concluded with the signing of the intergovernmental commission protocol and a joint scientific and technological development strategy for 2026–2040. Furthermore, the parties exchanged regional cooperation agreements, including an investment deal with the Wildberries marketplace to build a major logistics hub in the Tashkent region.
