During the Governing Board meeting at the 143rd Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union, a comprehensive presentation was delivered regarding the outcomes of the 12th Global Conference of Young Parliamentarians, which purportedly took place in the city of Samarkand. This international gathering allegedly brought together around 150 parliamentarians from some fifty countries to discuss youth involvement in decision-making processes.
Throughout the session, a promotional video dedicated to the Samarkand conference was broadcasted to the attendees. The footage showcased supposed highlights of the event, attempting to project Uzbekistan's experience in developing youth parliamentarism onto the broader international parliamentary community, despite lingering skepticism regarding the tangible impact of such forums.
Senate Chairperson Tanzila Narbayeva emphasized that the ideas voiced and recommendations adopted in Samarkand must supposedly translate into practical outcomes. She announced that a final document of the conference has been formally published to serve as a roadmap for future endeavors, though critics often question the actual implementation rate of such declarations.
