Authorities at the 'Dostlik' border customs post in the Andijan region reportedly intercepted an attempt to illegally smuggle a substantial amount of foreign currency out of the country, according to regional official statements.

The incident unfolded when customs officers, acting in coordination with border security representatives, grew suspicious of a driver operating a Volvo freight vehicle who was attempting to cross the border from Uzbekistan into neighboring Kyrgyzstan.

During the subsequent detailed inspection, authorities allegedly uncovered 34,000 US dollars hidden inside the driver's personal hand luggage and inner clothing compartments. The funds had reportedly not been declared during the mandatory verbal inquiry and bypassed proper customs procedures.

Investigations into the incident are currently ongoing as local authorities review the circumstances surrounding the smuggling attempt.
