Uzbekistan's rapidly expanding economy is driving profound changes across local businesses, with artificial intelligence, cloud technologies, automation, and startups quickly transforming the corporate landscape. According to Alexander Kim, rector of the Skolkovo Moscow School of Management, the country's business environment exists simultaneously in the past and the future, presenting complex strategic challenges for corporate leaders.

The expert outlines five essential competencies required for modern leadership during periods of rapid growth. First is optimism, which fuels belief in developmental projects. Second is complex thinking capable of overcoming traditional informational constraints. Third is the ability to actively listen to teams rather than relying on outdated top-down management styles. Fourth is the proficiency to integrate artificial intelligence into daily workflows, and fifth is the intrinsic energy needed to drive large-scale initiatives.

Kim notes that a distinct Uzbek management culture is gradually taking shape, blending Central Asian historical traditions with advanced global governance practices. While digitalization accelerates, personal relationships and human contact remain fundamental to conducting business in the country. Addressing the brain drain of young IT and robotics specialists requires robust domestic infrastructure, venture funding, and opportunities for local startup realization.

The educational market in Uzbekistan offers immense potential given its population of 40 million, spanning everything from early education to corporate upskilling. Collaborations between international management institutions and domestic telecom giants like Uztelecom highlight a growing corporate commitment to enhancing leadership culture, which ultimately contributes to broader societal prosperity.
