Jose Maria Mendez has officially stepped down from his position as the head coach of the Uzbekistan national futsal team, citing severe health complications. According to the country's futsal federation, the Spanish specialist made the decision to voluntarily resign after medical professionals advised him to halt all professional activities.

Reports indicate that the coach began experiencing heart failure symptoms late in August. Initial medical evaluations were conducted in Tashkent before Mendez was sent to Madrid for comprehensive and advanced clinical examinations to determine the exact severity of his condition.

Local medical experts in Spain strongly recommended that the coach take an indefinite break from his professional career to undergo a rigorous and extended medical treatment course. Consequently, Mendez submitted a formal request for resignation to the sports federation leadership, which was granted following a review of his medical status.

In a farewell message to the federation, Mendez expressed his ongoing support for the national squad and stated his willingness to offer consultations if needed in the future. The federation has not yet announced a successor to fill the vacant head coaching position.
