A tragic traffic accident involving minors and resulting in a fatality has been recorded in the Termez district of the Surkhandarya region, according to local traffic safety authorities. The incident reportedly occurred on October 9 at around 01:00 on the 11th kilometer of the D166 highway connecting Termez, Namuna, and the Termez international airport, within the Navruz neighborhood area.

According to preliminary investigative findings, a 10th-grade student born in 2010 from Termez secondary school No. 25 was driving his mother's Cobalt automobile at high speed without holding a valid driver's license. Due to his complete lack of driving experience and excessive speed, the teenager allegedly lost control of the vehicle and crashed straight into a lighting pole situated in the middle of the road.

As a result of the violent crash, the driver's 16-year-old classmate, who was a passenger in the car, sustained fatal injuries and died at the scene. Meanwhile, the underage driver was hospitalized in critical condition in the intensive care unit, prompting the Termez District Internal Affairs Department to initiate a criminal case regarding the incident.

In the wake of the tragedy, emergency meetings were organized involving students from schools No. 23, 24, and 25 who were identified as having a "propensity for driving vehicles," alongside their parents. A local community police inspector noted that preventative discussions had previously been held with the teenage driver multiple times, yet authorities were supposedly unable to prevent the reckless behavior.
