Doniyor Kadirov, who previously headed the Department of Public Security and Rule of Law under the Presidential Administration of Uzbekistan, has been appointed as the acting hokim (governor) of the Sirdaryo region. This personnel shift has drawn significant attention amid ongoing administrative reshuffles within the country's centralized governance structure.

According to reports, Kadirov succeeds Erkinjon Turdimov, who was earlier reassigned to the position of First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Education and Science. Observers note that such frequent high-level transfers often reflect underlying tensions and systemic challenges in managing regional economic and social policies effectively.

The appointment also follows a period of informational confusion surrounding the region's leadership. Earlier in October, unverified reports allegedly claimed that Zainilobiddin Nizomiddinov, the former head of the Presidential Administration, had been appointed to the post during a closed meeting, a claim that the regional administration subsequently denied.

Kadirov brings a background in law enforcement to his new civilian leadership role. His career includes heading the Main Directorate for Transport Security and the Main Directorate for Combating Terrorism and Extremism under the Ministry of Internal Affairs, alongside various advisory positions within the presidential apparatus.
