On February 25, 2026, in the Mirabad district of Tashkent, minor Doniyor Turgunov struck traffic police inspector Khosilbek Eshnazarov with a car. The inspector later died from severe injuries. According to the General Prosecutor's Office, Turgunov has been detained as part of a criminal case.

Turgunov is suspected of crimes under Part 1 of Article 267 (Vehicle theft – punishable by 5 to 10 years imprisonment) and Point "d" of Part 3 of Article 104 (Intentional infliction of grievous bodily harm resulting in death – punishable by 8 to 10 years imprisonment) of the Criminal Code.

A court decision on February 28 ordered Turgunov's detention. The General Prosecutor has personally taken control of the investigation.
