Specialized traffic surveillance cameras have been installed along the dedicated public transport lanes on Fergana Road in the capital of Uzbekistan. The Tashkent Road Traffic Management Center officially reported that the new monitoring equipment aims to prevent unauthorized vehicles from obstructing buses and disrupting city traffic flow.

The cameras cover a six-kilometer stretch in both directions, operating daily to record traffic violations from 6:00 AM to 11:00 PM. Authorities noted that starting from May 2025, driving along these designated lanes is permitted for any type of vehicle during nighttime hours.

According to the Traffic Management Center, similar camera systems will be installed progressively across other streets throughout the city to guarantee priority movement for public transport. Representatives highlighted the scale of the issue: 'A single bus can carry over 50 passengers simultaneously. When a car enters the dedicated lane and impedes the bus, it causes dozens of people heading to work or study to be delayed.'

Records show that the Tashkent Transport Department initially promised to enforce the dedicated lanes on Fergana Road back in February 2022, yet regular automobiles have continued to use them unhindered until recently. Persistent infrastructure challenges and improper lane markings have also frequently complicated public transit operations across the metropolitan area.
