A tragic traffic accident in the Pakhtachi district of the Samarkand region has resulted in the deaths of two people. The fatal incident occurred on October 9 at approximately 13:00 local time along the 4K-560 highway passing through the 'Mirkan' makhalla.
According to local law enforcement reports, a Cobalt vehicle was traveling along the Mirkan-Misit route when a cyclist suddenly darted out onto the roadway from the right side. In an attempt to avoid a collision, the driver reportedly swerved to the left, subsequently losing control of the vehicle and crossing into the oncoming traffic lane.
The out-of-control car then collided head-on with an electric scooter. One of the passengers on the scooter died at the scene from severe injuries. The driver and a second passenger were rushed to a local hospital, but medical personnel were unable to save the second passenger, who later succumbed to his injuries.
Authorities have initiated a criminal case regarding the fatal crash, and a preliminary investigation is currently underway to determine the exact sequence of events and liability. Road safety experts continue to express concern over the frequency of serious accidents on regional roads.
This incident follows another recent tragedy in the Termez district of the Surkhandarya region, where a 16-year-old school student died in a car crash while driving a Cobalt, and his classmate sustained severe injuries.
