During a recent presentation on urban improvement in Tashkent, authorities reviewed a comprehensive renewal project covering four neighborhoods in the Yashnabad district: Vatandosh, Mohinur, Al-Bukhari, and Tong. Spanning 75 hectares and housing over 18,000 residents, the project introduces a novel approach for the city's residential zones, notably proposing to relocate parked vehicles entirely outside of interior courtyards to enhance public space safety and organization.

The modernization blueprint is structured around the widely discussed '15-minute neighborhood' concept. According to this urban planning model, essential daily amenities—including retail shops, consumer services, educational and medical facilities, as well as recreational and sports areas—will be placed within a convenient walking distance for local residents. The initiative also outlines plans to significantly expand green spaces, construct a three-kilometer walking path, and build a multi-profile sports complex.

Infrastructure upgrades further involve expanding existing schools to accommodate thousands of additional students, alongside the establishment of new kindergartens and outpatient clinics. To address growing mobility challenges, officials proposed modernizing public transport stops and constructing secure pedestrian and bicycle paths. Additionally, the project encompasses renovating the exterior facades and utility networks of 76 apartment buildings, improving street lighting, and expanding waste collection points.

The broader urban revitalization strategy aims to transform 100 neighborhoods by 2027 and scale this up to 400 neighborhoods by 2030. Throughout this large-scale process, all underlying infrastructure—ranging from heating and water supply to sewage and electricity grids—will undergo complete overhauls to align with contemporary international standards, while generating tens of thousands of jobs.
