A total of 97 entrepreneurs are currently operating within the Habib Abdullayev neighborhood in Tashkent, spanning various sectors such as manufacturing, services, retail, and education, as local authorities attempt to stimulate grassroots economic activity.
Neighborhood financial representatives have been conducting regular consultations with residents to identify specific support measures needed for business expansion. To date, financial assistance has reportedly been allocated to several residents for acquiring necessary machinery or launching new commercial ventures.
The scope of operations among local business owners varies significantly, ranging from inherited family crafts to the expansion of home-based enterprises. However, a common obstacle cited by many is the chronic shortage of capital and modern equipment required to upgrade their production lines.
To address these challenges, a cooperative effort has been established in the neighborhood alongside Uzbek Industrial and Construction Bank (Sanoatqurilishbank), aiming to evaluate citizen needs and convert speculative business ideas into tangible projects.
Notably, a local confectionery and bakery workshop currently produces nine distinct product types, including three varieties of muffins, gingerbread, and rolls. The enterprise employs 17 workers, five of whom reside within the immediate neighborhood.
According to local entrepreneur Araik Gukasyan, financial assistance totaling approximately 100 million soms was supposedly provided by the bank, enabling a substantial upgrade in production capacity. The funds were allegedly used to purchase essential machinery, resulting in an estimated 30 to 40 percent increase in output.
The expansion in production volume has reportedly altered local distribution patterns, with sweets now being supplied directly to neighborhood grocery shops and retail outlets. Proponents claim that local distribution minimizes logistics expenditures, keeps retail prices accessible, and provides fresh goods to the immediate community.
The entrepreneur's stated future plans involve further scaling operations and eventually establishing new regional branches while maintaining ongoing cooperation with the financing institution.
