Law enforcement authorities in Tashkent have taken swift administrative action following a widely circulated social media video that sparked profound outrage among capital residents and animal welfare advocates. The controversial footage depicted adults tying a rope around a cat's neck and handing the distressed animal over to a young child, who could be seen pulling the pet while it desperately resisted.

Following intense public pressure and widespread demands from internet users for a thorough legal review of the adults' actions, officers from the Shaykhontohur District Internal Affairs Department initiated an investigation. Authorities successfully identified the individuals involved and processed the administrative case in accordance with local legislation. *

Pursuant to Article 111 of the Administrative Responsibility Code, the woman responsible was ordered to pay a fine equivalent to seven base calculation units, amounting to over 3 million soms. In addition to the financial penalty, law enforcement officials conducted a formal preventive discussion with her to deter similar irresponsible behavior in the future.

This incident highlights ongoing societal discussions regarding animal protection standards within the region. In a contrasting recent event that drew positive public attention, staff within the Tashkent Metro successfully rescued a stray cat trapped on the tracks at the Kosmonavtlar station.
