Authorities in Uzbekistan have announced the creation of the Tashkent International Fashion Academy, which will operate as a state-funded higher education institution. Classes at the newly formed academy are scheduled to officially commence during the 2026/2027 academic year, aiming to supply skilled professionals for the local manufacturing sector.

The institution will function under the oversight of the Light Industry Development Agency. It is being established on the foundation of an existing joint educational program between the Tashkent Textile and Light Industry Institute and the Paris International Fashion Academy. Students currently enrolled in this joint program will have their studies transferred to the new academy, and graduates will receive the academy's official diploma.

Plans are also underway to introduce a dual education system starting from the 2027/2028 academic year, allowing students to combine academic studies with hands-on training tailored to the specific demands of textile, garment, and footwear enterprises. Additionally, infrastructural development plans include the construction of a 400-bed dormitory for students by the end of 2028.
