Authorities in Tashkent are reportedly planning to establish micro-forests between residential buildings, schools, and kindergartens across the capital. The municipal administration intends to create shaded walking streets and new parks, with the autumn tree-planting season supposedly scheduled to kick off on November 10. Separate greening programs are to be developed for each district of the city.
These measures are allegedly outlined in a decree by the Tashkent mayor under the nationwide 'Yashil Makon' project. Alongside new plantings, the document supposedly covers modifications in tree maintenance, the cleaning of canals and ditches, and the support of local resident initiatives aimed at neighborhood improvement.
One of the primary focal points is the creation of micro-forests in confined spaces where building a full-scale park is unfeasible. These green spots are planned for courtyards of multi-story buildings, school grounds, and neighborhoods with limited land availability. Designated plots ranging from 200 to 1,000 square meters will be utilized, with authorities claiming at least two saplings or shrubs will be planted per square meter.
