Parents of infant Leon in Tashkent have officially announced the successful completion of a three-month fundraising campaign to cover the expensive treatment for their son, who was diagnosed with spinal muscular atrophy (SMA) type 1. The milestone demonstrates a remarkable mobilization of community support and charitable donations.

According to the boy's mother, Anastasiya, strangers stepped forward to become close allies throughout the grueling process, with every single contribution and shared piece of information acting as a vital stepping stone toward their ultimate goal of saving the child's life. * The campaign's objective was to gather approximately two million US dollars to acquire Zolgensma, an advanced gene therapy drug critical for treating SMA. Medical protocols dictate that the therapy must be administered before the infant reaches six months of age, creating an intense sense of urgency for the family.

The final financial gap was reportedly closed thanks to a substantial donation from an anonymous benefactor who chose to remain unnamed. Furthermore, the family extended profound gratitude to various charitable organizations, including 'Zvezda na ladoshke', 'Zakat', the Dutch foundation Stichting SMA & DMD Kids, and public figures who helped amplify the boy's story.
