Law enforcement agencies in the Kosonsoy district of the Namangan region have reportedly halted illegal activities involving a local government official. According to security reports, a deputy district mayor was caught red-handed while accepting a bribe intended for the installation of solar panels at his private residence.
The joint operation was conducted by officers from the State Security Service's Namangan regional department and the Department for Combating Economic Crimes under the General Prosecutor's Office. Investigators claim that the official abused his position by pressuring a local entrepreneur and threatening to strip him of his legally leased land plot.
The official purportedly demanded that the businessman cover the purchase and installation costs of a 20 kW solar panel system for his personal home. He was apprehended with physical evidence while allegedly collecting 65 million soms inside his official service vehicle.
A criminal case has been initiated under the relevant articles of the Criminal Code of Uzbekistan, specifically focusing on bribery charges. Comprehensive investigative actions are currently underway to thoroughly examine the incident.
