As temperatures gradually drop across Uzbekistan, the demand for heating in residential areas and public facilities is steadily increasing, prompting emergency officials to issue comprehensive safety guidelines. The authorities are urging citizens to exercise extreme caution to prevent hazardous situations during the colder months.
According to Odil Kuldoshev, a department head at the Ministry of Emergency Situations, residents must thoroughly inspect their heating stoves and gas appliances. Officials stressed that chimneys, exhaust pipes, and ventilation systems must be checked for blockages, as they often remain unmonitored between heating seasons. The use of uncertified, faulty, or unauthorized modified heating equipment is strictly prohibited.
Furthermore, the authorities warned against attempting DIY repairs on complex gas systems or hiring uncertified handymen. All maintenance work must reportedly be handled exclusively by accredited specialists from regional gas and electricity utility providers. Regulations also forbid using apartment building ventilation shafts as makeshift chimneys.
Supervisors of social institutions and overnight facilities are allegedly required to enforce rigorous safety protocols, particularly concerning boiler rooms. The emergency ministry maintains that strict adherence to official safety guidelines is critical to preventing carbon monoxide poisoning and accidental fires as winter approaches.
