In what is claimed to be a domestic first, the Republican Specialized Scientific and Practical Medical Center of Traumatology and Orthopedics in Uzbekistan has reportedly carried out a hip replacement surgery using an artificial intelligence-driven robotic assistant. The procedure was broadcast live to various regions across the country, drawing attention from local medical professionals.

According to statements from the medical staff, precise alignment of the artificial prosthesis is critical during severe joint deformations. Orthopedic traumatologist Dilshod Shamsimetov supposedly noted that robotic technologies help reduce operational time, ensure accurate implant placement, minimize complication risks, and facilitate a smoother patient recovery process.

Prior to the procedure, the robotic assistant allegedly analyzes computed tomography scans to draft a virtual surgical plan. During the operation itself, it performs high-precision movements that are traditionally difficult for human surgeons to execute manually. Chinese specialist Xu Peng, who participated in the intervention, praised the cooperation between nations and commended the ongoing medical developments in the region.

Authorities plan to introduce similar robotic-assisted surgical procedures in regional branches of the center moving forward. However, critics point out that the high costs and logistical complexities associated with advanced medical robotics could pose significant hurdles for widespread implementation across the national healthcare system.
