Recent reports circulating across social media platforms highlight growing commuter dissatisfaction and operational inconveniences within the Tashkent Metro system, heavily driven by an unprecedented surge in passenger volume. Regular users have increasingly pointed to crowded platforms and schedule delays.

According to the press service of JSC Tashkent Metropoliten, authorities are allegedly undertaking efforts to manage passenger flows more effectively, ensure safety, and gradually reduce train intervals. However, the system continues to grapple with the sheer scale of urban mobility demands.

Officials claim that during 2026, the metro network acquired and put into service 14 modern trainsets intended to enhance service quality. Despite these additions, skeptics argue that the rolling stock upgrades are struggling to keep pace with the exponential rise in daily ridership.

Data released by the metro administration indicates a dramatic demographic shift in public transit reliance: while daily ridership stood at roughly 280,000 to 300,000 passengers back in 2021, it has purportedly surpassed 1.2 million people by 2026. This massive fourfold increase has placed immense logistical stress on the capital's underground infrastructure.

Management maintains that optimization efforts are ongoing to improve passenger comfort and security. An upcoming press conference has been scheduled to address these ongoing concerns and provide further explanations regarding operational strategies and interval adjustments.
