The environmental situation in Tashkent has deteriorated further, with local meteorological authorities warning that an ongoing atmospheric inversion is expected to last for another ten days, severely exacerbating air quality issues across the urban area.
According to Uzhydromet, continuous emissions of dust and various pollutants are entering the atmosphere daily. In the absence of natural cleansing factors such as sufficient wind or precipitation, the dispersion of these hazardous particles remains heavily constrained. The inversion layer allegedly traps the pollutants near the surface, preventing them from dissipating into higher atmospheric layers.
Authorities claim that a series of mitigation measures are currently being implemented to address the severe smog and improve air quality conditions. These efforts purportedly include watering major roadways, installing filtration systems at local greenhouses, expanding urban green spaces, and tightening regulatory oversight on construction sites to control dust emissions.
Additionally, regulatory agencies have reportedly launched targeted raids against industrial enterprises and greenhouses suspected of violating environmental standards and heavily polluting the metropolitan atmosphere.
