Another online fraud scheme has been uncovered in Tashkent, where a local resident lost significant funds after falling for a scam promising a brand-new Chevrolet Cobalt. According to reports, the fraudsters contacted the victim via a Telegram account named "Akam bo‘lasiz", falsely claiming that he had won a major automotive giveaway and that prizes were ready for distribution.

To make the deception appear authentic, the perpetrators informed the victim that the car was allegedly located in the Syrdarya region and demanded a transfer of 4.5 million soms for paperwork and registration fees. To further cement the illusion, they provided video footage shot near a vehicle alongside forged document copies, convincing the victim to wire the money to a designated bank card.

The demands did not stop there, as the scammers soon requested an additional 8 million soms purportedly to cover auxiliary expenses, which finally triggered suspicion from the victim. When the man demanded a refund, the perpetrators gave empty promises before completely deleting their Telegram account and cutting off all communication channels.

Cybersecurity authorities have issued strong warnings to the public, urging citizens never to transfer money to strangers for allegedly won prizes and advising extreme caution regarding unsolicited digital proof. Officials emphasize that if a prize requires upfront payments of millions of soms, it is almost certainly a fraudulent Internet scheme designed to steal personal finances.
